Bridgestone will be supplying tyres to all Formula E teams from the 2026/27 Season as the sole tyre supplier. Machines are also ramping up with the introduction of GEN4, which increases maximum output by 71%. Both mark the beginning of a new era.

To unleash maximum performance from such powerful machines, Bridgestone developed two specialised tyres—POTENZA GEN4 for the all-weather and POTENZA GEN4 for TYPHOON TYRE* for the heavy wet.

POTENZA GEN4, meant to comply with the rule that tyres will generally not be changed mid-race, utilises a compound of special polymer designed at the molecular level and recovered carbon black. As next-generation tyres, they can handle extreme temperature fluctuations and all types of road conditions, balancing superior grip performance with high treadwear and durability. Alternatively, POTENZA GEN4 for TYPHOON TYRE, introduced in the 2026/27 season as a heavy wet tyre, incorporates silica derived from rice husks and proprietary technology to improve grip in wet conditions. Even in the rain that leaves puddles on the course, the tyres deliver superior water dispersal and high grip performance.

In developing the tyres, aside from physical property assessments, such as measuring grip using viscoelasticity-measuring instruments and verifying tread patterns, rigorous tests were conducted in the EU involving actual GEN4 vehicles that underwent harsh 6,500+ km tests. Performance is maximised by taking numerous factors into account, such as tyre footprint and warm-up properties, changes in performance over long runs, and driver feedback.
